Blogovision Results Party @ Blink
10, Karytsi Square (pic source)
Every December, Greek bloggers cast their votes over the best records of the year. The whole thing is called Blogovision, and this December, 96 bloggers stopped moaning about wikileaks/the crisis/not getting laid, for enough time to compile a top-20 of their favorite records and send it to the organizing committee/posse. This year’s winner was Arcade Fire, with their magnificent third LP, The Suburbs. The organizers threw an excellent party at Blink Cafe, just off Syntagma Square that drew a large, party-loving crowd to one of the city’s central, alternative hangouts. After a successful third year, Blogovision is gradually turning into an institution. A bespectacled, bi-curious, nerdy, plaid wearing, pitchfork article-quoting, way too much tweeting kind of institution, but still. Anyway, that was an awesome party, i have to give them that. Hope they got laid.
And here’s the results: 01. Arcade Fire - The Suburbs 02. National - High Violet 03. Caribou - Swim 04. Beach House - Teen Dream 05. Gonjasufi - A Sufi And A Killer06. The Black Keys - Brothers 07. Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles 08. Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest 09. LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening 10. Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma 11. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 12. Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More 13. Janelle Monae - Archandroid 14. Gil Scott Heron - I’m New Here 15. Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti - Before Today 16. Midlake - The Courage Of Others 17. MGMT - Congratulations 18. Broken Bells - Broken Bells 19. Sufjan Stevens - The Age Of Adz 20. Tame Impala - Innerspeaker = Twin Shadow - Forget
Funny Trivia: According to Greek mythology, if you own all of these records, you’re kinda gay.

Now that’s something you don’t see everyday. Literally. Transport workers on strike pretty much for the rest of the week, till Christmas Eve. Driving anywhere is expected to be nightmarish. Ideal for tourists who would opt for a long walk in and around central Athens; an urban part of Athens that is particularly chaotic -hence very interesting. A misery for most locals, except taxi drivers. Transport workers protest over a number of reasons, including significant pay-cuts, a merge of various Athens transport services companies that will mean less jobs and compulsory labour transfers, and a 30% to 50% rise on the basic ticket (currently at 1 Euro). Buses run from 9 till 21.00 on some of the next days. Did i say run? I meant crawl. Merry Christmas.
